Dogfish Head 120 IPA

by admin

The Dogfish head 120 minute IPA is fucking burley. Now it is by no stretch the best tasting beer out there, but it is insane.
When you pour this beer it comes out a nice orange hue and you get the overpowering aroma of hops, and grapefruit. I know I’ve said previously that this or that beer is for hop heads but this beer is for hophead snobs. It’s surprisingly sweet for a beer with so much hops. Trust you can really only handle one of these beers in a sitting. The weird thing with the sweetness of this beer is you can really taste the alcohol; that may be because this beer has an insane 20% ABV. I would highly suggest you run out to your local beer distributor and find out if they carry this and hope that if they do you can catch while it’s out. Now remember this beer only comes out 3 times a year. So if you’re lucky enough to get it, I’d pick up a few. It says it ages well so while I had one, I’m saving one for 10 years down the road. I’d suggest you do the same. Don’t be a pussy and drink this beer!

Stone IPA

by The Brewmeister

At one of my favorite local watering holes among the 12 beer taps the one that I usually go for tends to be a little brewski that is an IPA (Cause I am the ultimate hophead) by a little company named Stone. Now Stone seems to be mostly known for their Arrogant Bastard Ale which to me doesn’t seem to hold a candle to this 6.9% ABV IPA. Once you go in for your first smell of this hoppy IPA you get hit with an overpowering smell of hops then after the beer settles you hints of a nice citrus smell.

Now that you’re finished with your smelling you indulge yourself with a few sips. At first you might be turned off since this is a bitter beer, unless that’s your kind of thing. Then with further examination you get a nice sweetness blend with the hops that resembles caramel. After you polish off this beer you feel satisfied, you realize that you can easily polish off a few more and it doesn’t leave you feeling full. Seriously, just do yourself a favor and get up on this beer.

Stoudt’s winter ale

by The Brewmeister

This winter ale out pours dark like a cola, then you go in for your first smell and you get the aroma of cocoa and hops. It’s a magnificent combination. Once you feel you’re ready for your first sip you get more of porter taste on your palate that is combined well with hints of that cocoa that you smelled earlier. Then as you progress with your drinking this winter ale you get more and more of a coffee taste. This beer is not a personal favorite of mine but it is beer that gives you a nice break from the mundane taste of your normal beers. If you get a chance to try this I would highly suggest it at least once; especially since it’s cold outside and nothing like a winter ale to warm you up for an exciting night.

Geary’s Pale Ale

by The Brewmeister

Geary’s Pale Ale is one of my personal favorites, you just have to be in the mood. It may not be the best beer in the world but it is a damn good one and maybe I just have a lot of sentiments for Portland, Maine. Well enough about that let’s get to what you want to know about this beer that goes damn well with a fine lobster. This Pale Ale is a bit on the light side with a bit of citrus flavor thrown in. It is smooth with very little bitter kick after taste; which I am known for loving my bitter beers but it’s nice to be smooth every now and then. The drinkability of this beer is one more down and pass it around. Finishing a 6 of this is not a problem at all with it’s smooth non bitter taste. Fuck your normal beer and try this out!

Mother’s Milk by Keegan’s Ales

by The Brewmeister

Now this is a stout! Mother’s Milk by Keegan’s pours a pitch black with no head. When you take your first smell you get a nice roasted malts with a smokey smell thrown in there. Once your ready for your first taste you get a nice taste of dark chocolate. Now this is a dark beer, it surpasses the classic that is Guinness although it is just a little bit lighter taste; drinking 6 of these won’t make you feel too full. This beer is one of the best beers to be enjoying during the winter time. Make yourself a nice hearty steak and enjoy this beer by Keegan’s.

Blue Point Toasted Lager

by The Brewmeister

Hey, I know you all missed me last week but I was out drinking and celebrating my birthday as well as celebrating the move into my new apartment. So really I’m sure all of you understand.Well down to buisness. This week I’m going with a some what recent staple beer from the island that is long, of course I’m talking about Blue Point’s “Toasted Lager” Once you crack this beer open you actually get a very overwhelming but enticing smell of toast. The beer is clean and very fresh tasting,There is a bit of bitterness, but notihng for the hopheads out there. Overall the taste is exciting at first but in the way the when you’re 15 and you start thinking Heineken is an exotic, extrememly bitter beer. In other words it’s better than most beers. It’s quite odd how this is the corner stone of Blue Point Brewery’s beer when most of there other beers are so much more delicious. Basically if you’re looking for something to dance on your taste buds and experiment a bit with new styles and tastes this falls a bit flat and you deserve so much better.

Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale

by The Brewmeister

Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made by the company Rouge from Oregon. When you pour this exquisite beer into your favorite glass it comes out with a deep honey color. With your first smell you get a rich malty, and fruity aroma.

As you let the beer settle and you go for your first sip you are delighted with a smooth, sweet taste of malts and not as hoppy as you’d expect from the smell. Also you kind get a sensation of caramel with a little but nice addition of bitterness.

Now this beer is a great one for a night out doing whatever it is you do. This Dead Guy tastes great from the draught, the bottle hell it’s probably the best out of the 22oz. jug that it also comes in, that’s right a jug you can act like a fucking cowboy swigging your beer from a jug and then start yourself a nice jug band, or just nice and drunk off of it you decide.

"Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA"

by The Brewmeister

Now this beer here, this is a beer for the books. The Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA comes in packs of 4, which tend to be more expensive then a normal 6 pack. Now don’t let the skimping of bottles fool you, this descendent beer packs a wallop with a 9% ABV. Upon pouring this orange/gold looking beer you get such a powerful aroma of citrus, and tropical fruits that you swear you are about to drink some perfume. You may find yourself having problems downing them one after another like a normal beer due to the robust hoppy taste. With the first sip you’re kind of stunned that you must take another sip; with this second sip your mouth dances with hops, citrus flavor with a bitter after taste. By the time you reach the fourth beer in the pack besides feeling pretty good you’ll start to feel your tongue rebelling against you from such a strong flavor that you’re kind of glad that it only has 4 beers in the pack. This is one beer I would say everyone must try; in fact you should go buy a pack right now and enjoy it because this is certainly one of the best beers out there for you to try.

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale

by The Brewmeister

As the winter is coming near you tend to start crave for your beer to bit a bit more dark, maybe a more of a chocolate or coffee type of stout for that warm and cozy feeling. May I make a suggestion on going with the great winter beer by Sierra Nevada called “Celebration Ale”. It is a beer high in hops, a strong aroma and the taste that just reminds you of the holidays, especially drunken times around the holidays with an ABV of 6.8%. This beer even looks great just sitting there in it’s pint glass with about a inch of foam that dissipates quickly. Once you have that delicious first sip you get a delight of a little bit of spice then quickly comes the after taste of a nice bitterness that is expected from the hop heads that love IPA’s. This beer goes great with a nice piece of ham or steak. So go out and buy a nice 6 pack, get shitty and try and enjoy the company of your family; or at least make it interesting this holiday.
